Revolution

Saturday, September 29, 2007

Just had the English papers, Geography and MT paper 1 this week. Next week is going to be hell. Hahaha, I think I'm going to fail Geog paper but nah I don't care. LOL! As for MT paper 1, I did the two parts at the same time. I managed to finish it in time, thank God...English I totally screw up the composition. Argh, I don't think I'm going to get my usual score. So here's another song by the Beatles called Revolution. Ruddy marvelous rock song.

Revolution
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right X3

You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right X3

This is the version done by Jim Sturgess. It's really nice but the Beatles' version has Paul McCartney doing a scream in the beginning of the song...really effing good.

So that's for today. Thanks and goodbye

Double Happiness and a Trouble

Tuesday, September 25, 2007

It just keeps getting better everytime the exams close by, docking the hours away from me and I just can't stop thinking about it.

Today was probably one of those unlucky days I had. During recess me, Taufiq, Xiang Chou, Ro Woon, Wee Chiat and Zhao De got caught by Mr Ow for playing cards at the staircase of the Home Econ's block. Hmm, apparently we were ratted on by Ai Mei, one of the councillors, who caught us playing at the block there.

It was one of those gold comedic moments where Mr Ow came, Wee Chiat Zhao De and Ro Woon, ran as fast as lightning. It was like one second later, they are gone without a trace. As we were telling the stories to them, I was gawfing away like mad. Mr Ow took mine and the rests' EZ-Link cards and we were suppose to report to him after school. You could guess that we were going to serve detention but thank God, we were given a chance. Like some people say, you screw this chance up, you're going to Hell.

After recess, I went to 3E7 as Elaine told me she got something for me..a piece of paper, she hinted to me. Yeah well, it was partly true. She did gave me a piece of paper but it was folded to look like a crane..Yup, it's a paper crane made by her. On top wrote that she treats me as her best buddy. All I can say that it's been great to be her friend. I was seriously touched by it. No one made me something..I'll keep it close to my heart. Thanks, buddy!

Finally Heroes Season 2 returns! Me and Agassi were like jumping around in the class like mad geeks. I was watching the episode halfway but the player was abit crazy and did not load the whole video. Argh! But luckily, I found another player, Stage6. Oh man, I can't wait...if you excuse me, I got some heroes to catch! HAHA, get it? Heroes? Okay that was lame...

Bye!!

Something

Saturday, September 22, 2007

Today I'm going to share a song to you readers out there because I just have the feeling for this song a lot. It is a Beatles' song but is sung by Jim Sturgess, a new unknown. Wow I really like Beatles' songs and I don't know why. I found the lyrics of their songs very sincerely written and with the tune they composed...What sheer brilliance they had.

SOMETHING
Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me

I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe in her now

Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style she shows me

I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe in her now

You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know. I don't know.
You stick around and it may show
I don't know. I don't know..

Something in the way she knows
That all I have to do is think of her
Something in her things she shows me

I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe in her now
End

So nothing's much happened and I'm currently preparing for my EOY papers, I'm quite nervous and a little confident but as you guys may know, my over-confidence may be my downfall, so gotta work hard!

UPDATE: If some of ya'll wondering whether I'm referring to somebody, actually I'm not, I just love the lyrics :D

Across The Universe

Wednesday, September 12, 2007

For those who love the Beatles, here's an announcement for you. Look out for Across The Universe movie! Those Beatles' fans would know that the movie title is also one of their songs' title. It's a musical and directed by Julie Taymour, a well-known Broadway director I think. The trailer started with this guy singing one of Beatles songs called Girl. It caught my attention immediately the song was marvelous. So this is the sypnosis...

"An original musical film, Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and painted and three-dimensional animation, the film is paired with many Beatles songs that defined the time."

It stars Jim Sturgess and Evan Rachel Wood as the main leads. Jim and Evan portrays Jude and Lucy respectively in the film, which of course having the songs Hey Jude and Lucy In The Sky. You guys have just got to hear the songs! It is revealed that the movie would feature 31 Beatles songs in the movie and 16 Beatles song in the soundtrack. Me and Mary-Ann seriously can't wait for the movie to be screened. Here's a music video for the song It Won't Be Long.

NCO Pre-Camp

Thursday, September 06, 2007

Wooooooooo...NCO Camp was one hell of a ride. NCO stands for Non-Commision Officer and this pre-camp was for the Band Majors from all the secondary school bands.I learnt a lot of things about percussion and being initiative while being there.

The pieces Mr Lawrence Siao gave, some were easy, some were difficult. S.I.R March was probably the most difficult piece I ever encounter in the NCO pre-camp. The other percussionists knew how to play. I was so clueless. I felt like a recruit and everything I knew seemed so little compared to theirs. Now I know what I have to do.

All I did for these few days is just playing crash cymbals as the mallets places were filled up and they need a person to crash cymbals. I learnt about the double-stroke builder, the start-up for the drum solo and a new way to play drum solo though it was quite simple. Of course, they are other ways to improvise the drum solo but the percussion tutor, Mr Gabriel, didn't had enough time to teach us.

Oh yeah, Mr Gabriel was the percussion tutor who taught us, percussionists, things about percussion. He's a funny guy and great kind nice guy. He's half-french so his name was Jean William Gabriel followed by some chinese name. He is such a cool french guy.

It's probably very true when I say this, Music bonds people, Nokia was so right..The friends I made in the percussion section are really nice fellows. They are Asher, Azam, Hui Ling, Yug Han, Shirley, Nicole and Jerald. Asher is really good drummer and snare drummer. I'm actually really impressed with Azam as he is one of the few Sec2s to ever enter the NCO course. Hui Ling is pretty fast with her stroke-rolling, whatever you call that. Yug Han and Shirly are brilliant malletists as Yug Han is able to figure what the band is playing and play it on the glockenspiels and Shirly's sight-reading is really good. Nicole and Jerald are awesome drummers too.

Seeing them is quite demoralising as I am not a good drummer and a mediocre malletist. But I am willing to learn. I hope I can become a good drummer one day and be able to lead my bandmates in PRSS!
