With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

Monday, July 30, 2007

This is probably going to be the most crucial post I ever typed because it does not only consist important things I need to remind myself in band, it also apply to my life in the future.

On Saturday was PRSS Band Investiture 2007. This was something like a promotion, quite similar to Uniformed Groups promotion, for those who are not farmiliar with it. And I know you guys know that I'm not the person who can lead someone as I am practically a slacking dreamer. But this Saturday, the tables were turned, my days being a slacker has come to an end, as I had big posts and big responsibilities handed to me.

I don't want to mention what posts I got because I've thought it, posts are nothing except a title, and this title doesn't tell much of a person, does it? Only the achievements tells us what this person is truly worth. The posts and titles are just things that can help us do our jobs. Now I finally understand why Sir keep telling we band members about that.

This is a wake up call to me, it's telling me that I'm not suppose to stay behind and let others do their job. The band is now in our Sec3s and 4s hands so we should all work together and try to bring out the best for the Viva La. So this coming year, I hope I can do my best to lead the band and really hope my friends will be with me through the tough times. Cheers...=)

P.S Remember to be humble and not go yaya about it. This applies to me too.

Harry Potter Review

Friday, July 20, 2007

Yeah, I seemed to be doing more reviews on my blog rather than on my movie blog.

Harry Potter 5 is a blast from the start to the end. From the thrilling opening to the last fight at the Ministry of Mystery, you can say that director David Yates and scriptwriter Michael Goldenberg has turned a 500 pages long boring book into another interesting movie to be added to the Potter franchise.

This movie starts off with Harry being attacked and used magic in a presence of a muggle, his cousin. So this starts off a chain of reactions and now the wizarding world do not believe his words that Voldermort is back. Back at school, he faces unfair treatment, the wetness of his first kiss and as usual...loads of trouble.

This is the best Potter yet. The acting has improved over the couple of movies and it is top-notch. Though Rupert Grint has lesser part in this, he does sure have his moments! Daniel Radcliffe has proved his critics wrong and that his acting chops, are pretty good for once.

Though Briton David Yates and Michael Goldenberg had shred this book and manage to keep it as the shortest running time for the Potter movies, this doesn't mean that he really cut out lots of parts. Sure, some parts may be distorted but the theme remains, which the 4th film failed to do. The new materials are added and old ones are removed, it may seem they killed it, but they had done this adaption the way it should be and it is both remarkable and spell-bounding. Many, however, would disagree, claiming this is snore-fest and it is the weakest of all.

Under Yates' and Goldenberg's tender and loving touch, I can say this is probably one of best films out there, for being adapted to the silver-screen. And hopefully Yates can bring out the best in the next Potter book, Half-Blood Prince. You have my respect, Yates...

Random Post (2)

Saturday, July 14, 2007

Really had nothing meaningful to write these few days. I had been doing homework almost every single day. Until now I haven't finish my powerpoint slides which im suppose to present next week...I don't know whether I should do about my passion about movies or Wolfmother...For movies, I get to share my knowledge about movies with my classmates but movies is really a very vast lot of information, and without it, you can never understand some of the things which are in movies...Though Wolfmother is not really my passion but my favourite band, it does not need a lot of information to let my classmates know and get bored about it...At least Wolfmother has music.

Mediacorp's Channel 8 came down to school today to do an interview about us. I was, as Su Juen described, camera-shy. I never like smiling in front of cameras. It's not that I hate being taken, I just hate the way I look in it...that dumb look in the picture, I hate my smile too...Don't ask...

Jia Wee and Su Juen did an interview with the man, seemed friendly and things...after that me and the other percussion members go joke about the guy had to lower his mike to match Su Juen's height, but of course she wasn't that short and the guy ain't that tall. It was a joke, remember?

I came back after eating with Su Juen, Shaun and some other people..too lazy to mention..then I slacked all the way til now...I guess I'm really fucking tired, but I have to do my homework or else that bloody Neo would throw a chair because of our lazy attitude...

Random-ing done

Holding On & Transformers Review!

Tuesday, July 03, 2007

I have been so tired for the last few days, serious...Rushing off to NDP practice and then rushing the damned maths homework...Really felt that this isn't best and I know I could do better, but the stress are pressurising me...I nearly blew my temper on Mr Neo, earlier this afternoon, but luckily I restrained, otherwise I could ran away from class again and thinking of SUICIDE again...shesh..STOP PRESSURING ME! GIVE ME TIME TO DO WHAT I NEED TO!!!

NDP is taking away my precious time for homework on Saturdays...til August the ninth, I will still have to hang on to my busy little life. Life without maids are horrible. With nobody at home, no one could clean the house and cook the meals, so my family had to do it ourselves. Sometimes having no maid could bond our family closer, but if it's long, it might cause disputes in the family. This new life teaches one lesson, never ever buy private houses as they are soooooooooooo HUGE that you can't really cover every single corner of your home. Your life gets messed up.

Like what happened to today, my mom was so eager to get to school as early as she can that when we in the car, she told me to lock the gate. So I went doing it, unwillingly. As a result both my sister's and my car door wasnt close...She accelerated without telling us, and oh hell yeah, my sister's car door hit against a pillar so hard that it slammed back into place, the sound of the door was nerve-wrecking as I couldn't believe it happened. That was the dumbest thing I ever saw in my whole life. Later on, in the car, she kept scolding us for what we did. We kept quiet but in my heart, I was laughing away at her misfortune...Now she has to accept my father's scolding when he gets back...

...watched Transformers on Sunday apparent, and it was one hell of a ride with all those cool robots..Storywise, it wasn't brilliant but the amazing visuals made up for the small plotholes...Really loved Bumblebee...the only robot that has heart in the film, all the others just went for war..Michael Bay seemed to be the perfect choice director for this blow-up-shit kind of movie...Really impressed with his film...so that's all for today, I gotta rest...LOL slept awhile while blogging..hahaha
